Cozy Cabin is a winter favourite at Cedar Bay, open every Saturday from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. between January and March. Organized by the Lakeshore Committee of the Friends of Cedar Bay and operated by dedicated volunteers, the cabin offers a warm and welcoming place for hikers, skiers, snowshoers, fat-bikers, and walkers to take a break and enjoy the outdoors.
Visitors are invited to warm up by the fire, enjoy hot drinks, and take part in a relaxed, community-focused atmosphere at the lakeshore. Cozy Cabin provides a simple and inviting way to experience Cedar Bay during the winter months while connecting with others who share a love of the outdoors.
Thanks to annual funding from the Salvation Army Thrift Store, special winter activities such as dog sledding, moon light skiing, and winter survival activities for kids are put on at Cedar Bay by the Lake Shore Committee every winter.
Community groups such as Girl Guides, Boreale Francophones of Sioux Lookout, NOSM Student Doctors create special Cozy Cabin Saturdays with sliding, special treats and other activities.
There is often a fire both inside and outside. Outside, hot dogs and marshmallows are favourites, especially for families.
Many children (and a few adults!) grab one of our magic carpets and head for the hill for some sliding fun.
Cozy Cabin Saturdays are a wonderful way to enjoy winter at Cedar Bay—warm, welcoming, and full of community spirit. Get in touch if you would like to help host an afternoon. (Florence Woolner 807 7376046 fwoolner@gmail.com)
