Raise a Foal Program

Friends of Cedar Bay announces “Raise a foal” program

The Friends of Cedar Bay are excited to announce a new program we have at the barn this year. We have just finished out first year of Saddle Club for youth who are interested in learning about the all mighty and beautiful horse. We had such a good turnout and we have now had another opportunity drop in out laps. The Deerhorn Ranch from Winnipeg offered us two baby girl horses (called ‘fillies’)to enrich our program. We have the amazing opportunity to announce our "Raise a foal (baby horse)" program for the youth who want to learn how to raise horses.  You would think that the foals would be born with their instincts and grow to be the beauties that they can be but it is not so. Raising a foal is actually a rigid process: they must learn to lift their feet so that later on when the ferrrier comes they will be used to someone touching their feet, they need to learn their manners and how to act among the herd and most of all they need to be trained to respect those who take care of them – Us!!

The Raise-a-foal program will run for one year and then comes the most important part, we will be auctioning off the foals to someone who is able to train them, someone who can support them financially, and someone who will love them forever.

So sign up now because there are only 30 spots available, and your $100 fee will be greatly needed for the success of this program. And don’t forget to join the Name the Fillie contest. Watch for us at Johnny’s, or at Boo at the Bay, or contact Darlene Martelle at , or by phone at 737-2993.

Thank you all for taking the time to read this and taking the time to become part of our newest and most exciting program at the Bay. If  - and that is a big IF - the program has enough funding and enough interest we will repeat it again next fall with two new babies.

Please take the time to be part of this once in a lifetime experience and Raise-a-Foal with us!!!
